Review: I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest

I am princess z

Book Summary From Amazon: Once upon a time, two best friends created a princess together. Libby drew the pictures, May wrote the tales, and their heroine, Princess X, slayed all the dragons and scaled all the mountains their imaginations could conjure.
Once upon a few years later, Libby was in the car with her mom, driving across the Ballard Bridge on a rainy night. When the car went over the side, Libby passed away, and Princess X died with her.
Once upon a now: May is sixteen and lonely, wandering the streets of Seattle, when she sees a sticker slapped in a corner window.
Princess X?
When May looks around, she sees the Princess everywhere: Stickers. Patches. Graffiti. There’s an entire underground culture, focused around a webcomic at IAmPrincessX.com. The more May explores the webcomic, the more she sees disturbing similarities between Libby’s story and Princess X online. And that means that only one person could have started this phenomenon—her best friend, Libby, who lives.

RATING *3/5 STARS*

I Am Princess X wasn’t exactly what I was expecting.  In retrospect, I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting.  All I know is I was a little let down.

The plot of I Am Princess X had quite a bit of potential.  It’s one of the reasons I picked it up in the first place. Overall, it felt a little rushed to me.  All together, it took me about 3 hours to read it in its entirety.  I would have enjoyed if a few of the aspects of the story line had been further developed a little more.

The part I enjoyed most was the graphic novel pages included throughout the book.  Im some ways, I liked them more than the book itself.  I wish there had been more color in the pages.  All of the pages were in various shades of purple.

I Am Princess X wasn’t one of my favorite reads, but it was an okay book overall.  If you have any opinions on it, drop me a comment.  Until the next review!
