Review: Harry Potter ad the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

harry potter 2

Inner Cover Book Summary: “The Dursleys were so mean that hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.  And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockheart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny.  But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone–or something–starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects…Harry Potter himself?”

RATING *5/5 STARS*

Wow!  These books only get better as you keep reading, don’t they?  That’s what it seems to me, anyway.  The Chamber of Secrets did not disappoint me!  I thought it was even better than the first one!

As always, my favorite character is still Ron, especially since I started to watching the movies.  I am on the second one right now, and my love for Ron Weasley has only grown since watching the actor who plays him.  Hermione’s growth as a character is great.  She is learning to relax and have fun while still serving as the practical one in the group.

In the Chamber of Secrets, we are introduced to Ginny Weasley more in depth.  I’m pretty sure I know who she ends up with.  With Harry Potter having been out for 20 years, some aspects were bound to be spoiled for me.  She has a lot of potential.  I hope to see her grow out of the frightened, nervous girl she is now.

In the very first chapter, we meet Dobby.  Now, I started out disliking Dobby.  He began to grow on me towards the end of the book.  I hope he makes future appearances.

I look forward to continuing the Harry Potter series.  I have the third book on hand.  Once I finish the books I am reading now, I am going to start in on that one.  Drop me a comment if you’ve read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets or if you have any other thoughts.
